| It was so awesome to visit Avalon and meet Fawn in person! Lots of catching up and eating out (rich and salty and yummy food but kind of kills me - still recovering). Av' was a wonderful host - I got out of his hair when I was working. We got to catch up with Joe's mom and I got to catch up with friends. Lots of dog parking - Fawn is a total VIP in the Hawthorne neighborhood and Avalon is an enamored and uber responsible dog dad. | It was a big week for me. First Train the Trainer for the Diversity and Inclusion learning experience that I program manage. Also, being video taped. Gads. Facilitating for Americans, which was a bit scary for me. Joe sent me flowers, which was so thoughtful and really meant a lot to me. HP Vancouver |

| Congratulations Zaven! You got your Italian driver's license! So impressive (and a schlep) - I admire him so much considering he was mostly doing it for us. | Leonetti Trek 2019 : Austria, specifically, Tyrolean (Lechtaler Alpen) Alps above St. Anton am Alrlberg 19-23 August 2019 Lechtaler Alpen, Austria We wanted to do a trek in Austria this year, we haven't been since our ski days back when we lived in Germany and also because the description said there are the most amazing wildflowers in August. All boxes were ticked. Except for the weather, which we were watching closely. We decided, after a lot of thought and discussion, to go anyway because a bad weather front was arriving for most of Europe so if we were to change trek route/ country last minute there would be crap weather regardless. Unless, we went south to Alpi Marittime (yawn) which we have done so many times before it just was not very motivating. So we decided to keep the original plan and go to Austria, even if there might be some not ideal weather. Ok, crappy weather for two out of the three days of trekking. But day 3 made up for the other days Right above: Pre trek enjoying our evening in St. Anton am Arlberg, at Pete Hotel - gorgeous, love it and will definitely be back. Clean and rested. And then... Day 1 trek from St. Anton to Leutkircher Hütte - 1300 meters up to 2251 - gads in pea soup rain - thankfully we had our waterproof ponchos, functional not fashionable. |
| Day 2 was equally yuck. We trekked from Leutkircher Hütte to Kaiserjochhaus at 2310 meters and pretty much didn't see anything. We were stuck in the hutte, drinking beer and playing Gin Rummy, that part was fun, but with a bunch of damp, onion smelling body odored, smoking hikers. I was surprised at how many hard core trekkers were out on the trail in this crap weather. Day 3 from Kaiserjochhaus to Ansbacher Hutte and then we decided to just hike on down to St. Anton, stay at Pete's hotel again, shower and get some yummy bergkase and potatoes. It was a beautiful, perfect trail day but it was long. Like 20 kilometers and climbing about 300 meters and going down about 1000 meters. Watching the sunrise over the Alps was magical and of course promised a beautiful day. I love doing these high altitude treks. Medicine for my soul and perspective. Time together with Joe. Lakes with the most amazing turquoise water, goats, marmots, wildflowers, blisters, bruises, tears, terror and bliss. You only get these views from the remote trails and doing the work to get there. And then there are the well deserved beers at the end. Every moment was photograph worthy but here are some of the highlights. |

| Our Ferragosto was a bit dampened, when we arrived the skylight in the library loft was wide open, there had been really crazy wind storms, so we had water damage. Floor and rug needing replacement. An unexpected project. Ugh. But library back to normal |
