The Leonetti Family - May 2012
Climbing above Barzio &
Lecco  ~ Italia

Such a nice day hiking
around and climbing with
friends. And then a little of
the local affettato misto,
formaggi e birra to end the
day.

Avalon will be flying in on
Friday morning and is
staying through Monday -
can't wait, we have a big
weekend planned.

Av is here! 6.45 flight from Stuggy - 3
hours of sleep but he is holding up well. I
am impressed! I was laughing so hard
while driving I almost had to pull over.

Perfect weather + shopping in Milan -
last minute shopping for the 50th
Anniversary International Night.  Love
these
commercials that the 6th graders
made to promote the evening...

Sushi  @ 7.00 - happy hour at the
Leonetti's now - G&T and Greyhounds.

International Night
Pre event pictures - my
handsome boys. I
somehow managed not to
take any pictures at the
event. It was very loud
and crowded and
navigating a plate of food,
a drink and a camera was
not an option. I chose the
food and drink.

26 Maggio 2012
I have never been to an
emergency room in Italy, but
luckily yesterday I had two
visits. Not a good day for
people whose names start
with Z. Thankfully both Zach
and Zaven are fine - but the
Pavia hosiptal is not some
place you want to be when
you are sick or injured -
instead it might be a good
place to get sick or injured.

But in between hospital visits
Cantine Aperte 2012 - an
annual event that happens
all over Italy one day in May -
where the vineyards/cantines
open their doors to the public
to come in, taste and buy.
We were joined by some of
Joe's colleagues from the
American School.

Right: Marzuola Vineyard -
this is where we had a
private tasting scheduled
ahead of time and then as
we were taking Zach to the
hospital I called them and
said I would need to cancel it
- they were so nice, I am
happy that the hospital visit
was fast and that they could
still accomodate us. The
guided tasting was amazing
-  I have a new respect for
professional translators - not
a gift for me.
Usually when we go to
tastings the sommeliers have
20 seconds to give us the
low down on the wine we are
tasting - but Marzuola sat us
at a table and spent about
an hour with us - it was so
informative and I learned
more in an hour than I have
from studying my wine
books.  Grazie Mille  Filippo,
Gabriella, Marco e Chiara!!!

We visited 4 Cantines - but one was really stupid and not
accomodating - "We only have places for 20 people to taste - and you
can't taste standing up." Ridiculous, so don't drink this
wine:
