A big June
planned ....

Serole, Italia

I can eat food from street vendors
in Mexico, but this carne crudo
which is wildly popular in Piemonte -
Langhe - makes me gag and
wretch. Osteria di Vittoria Cortemilia
- super nice owners, great wine
selection and cheese - and I hate
feeling like I am being rude - they
take such pride in their food, but
there is no way I could get any of
this down, thinking, ' First this will
make you fart, then it will give you
worms. 'But Joe could eat it....
Happy Birthday Joe!!!!

Joe's kids bought him a swish helmet
cam, Zaven bought him a new
climbing helmet and he is climbing
with Michael this morning, later we will
go for a bike ride and have sushi

My gift was Tom Petty tickets for the
29th of June. Tom is playing an
outdoor show in Lucca Tuscany, we
have a gorgeous hotel booked just a
few blocks from the venue. Do
Italians know who Tom Petty is? We
will find out.

Tubingen & Stuttgart &
Ammerbuch,
Germany

Before the beers and beer
garden, Av and I hit a thrift
store, and met up with
Sindy, Phil & Dylan.
HOT HOT HOT

Later we trained to STR
where we ate Vietnamese
(yum) and met up with
Conny.

Congratulations Zaven Grey Leonetti!

8th Grade Graduation from the
American School of Milan ~ Class of
2016

Zaven was chosen to represent his
class by giving the graduation
speech.
We practiced beforehand but wow he
really, really, really exceeded my
expectations. He is a natural and
better than most adults at public
speaking. We are so proud!!!

Ok, I didn't want to bring the good camera
because I was just using a clutch  - it wouldn't
fit so these are the crappy iPod camera photos
which are usually good except in low light so we
look corny/grainy. A BIG thank you to Conner's
mom and Cecilia's dad for taking the wonderful
non grainy photos. Below right: Zaven's 2
bestie girls - the lovely Cecilia & Rael, Rael & Z
also attended the International School of Milan
together. All the kids were just gorgeous, it was
a wonderful ceremony and evening.
Still just glowing with pride.

I love this photo because Zaven is
standing on a little podium and you
can see his Converse, which just
adds a nice touch of levity to the
sense of ceremony. I asked him if he
was nervous because he really
seemed like a total cool cucumber;
composed & confident. He said his
leg was shaking...which is much
better than having a shaky voice.
Celle Ligure ~ Our first
beach/riviera day  - we are
LATE

LOVEDLOVEDLOVED it.
Last night while BBQing with
Zach and Eliza they said
Shanna was training on down
we were planning on going
as Zaven is off partying with
his friends (last day of school
Friday). So we met up and
headed down to the Riviera,
where we had a wonderful
day ~ dipping into the water,
drinking white wine, napping
& chatting - ahhhhh.

Next weekend Tom Petty in
Lucca!

24 giugno 2012
We came to Lucca to see
Tom Petty and were
suprised to find such a lovely
Tuscan town. Having lived in
Europe for 11 years ~ Italy
for 6, we were saying how
there are still tons of places
we haven't seen yet.

Tom was great, seems like a
nice man - his voice was
good even though he is o-l-d
but obviously hasn't been
drinking whiskey and
smoking too much.
I remembered why I stopped
going to shows. No matter
how lovely the venue-
outdoor, gorgeous city -
Piazza Napoleone - tree
lined park, with a palace,
restaurants and cafes
skirting the perimeter...still
bad. 1. you don't get to
choose the playlist and
although for his encore he
did play Mary Jane's Last
Dance and American Girl - I
feel like he really didn't play
all the (my and there are a
lot) favorites. 2. Hate the
whole crowd vibe - I am not
kidding when I say there
were a group of horrible
American exchange students
who were boozy and
LOUDER than the band,
again shame on the shitty
bad Americans making it
hard on the rest of us and I
felt out of place because I
wasn't wearing my John
Fogerty 2009 Tour T-shirt.
Total scuz bucket meth
heads with body odor. I
didn't drink nearly enough to
take the edge off as my
testosterone levels just go
into over drive in crowds -
not good. But most
importantly Joe really
enjoyed it.

What a wildly busy June. Joe
is off to the UK for 2 weeks in
July for work and then we
have our Estrucan Riviera
bike trip. More fun to come ~

P.S. Oh it is SOOOOOOOO
HOT.
