Gressoney, Val d'Aosta, Monte Rosa, Italia 13 marzo
It is sunny and gorgeous, like Spring, and we just could not resist going skiing (and to make it even more perfect, I have a slight sore throat, I think the Milano pollution is killing me and we should move to Torino, anyway I thought for sure if I went skiing I would be cured, because skiing is a cure all for my illnesses). We skied in Gressoney once before and loved it - this resort is on Monte Rose (very close to Zermatt (the Matterhorn)) and last year while we were skiing/vacationing in Champoluc we happened to traverse the valley and discovered it. Gressoney is high, so the snow is always perfect and the runs are wide so even if there is a heap of people it is not cramped and of course you can see the views are insane and breath taking. We wanted to come back at least once this year so today seemed like a perfect day to ski Gressoney - also because Zaven was staying at a friends win/win. The only draw back to this resort is there are only a few chair lifts and mostly gondola action so the lines and wait for the "telecabine" can be brutal just to get up here, but once you are up, you are golden - and it is totally worth the wait! |
