We found 3 scorpians  - 2 in our house; imagine this, I am
in the bathroom, washing my face, and go to hit the mirror
light button and yes, there is a scorpian sitting there right
on the light switch  - wtf-  and one while mushroom
hunting (gloves and shoes, check shoes, shake the
shoes)
Tiziana gave us a branch of hot chili's and a bunch of
tomatoes  - I made an insane risotto - sausage, beans,
chilis, Paolo's red wine, local honey, basil and garlic -
YUM. Then Joe comes in and says bring your camera you
are not going to believe how many Porcini Paolo
found...(above). So I am literally without words looking at a
mountain of fresh porcini and thinking, 'Damn I want to be
out there finding them.' But this time of year it is a bit
dangerous, with all the hunters of pigs and mushrooms
and chestnuts in the same woods at the same time. So
finally, after Joe completed the kitchen remodel - new
stove top and wood work surface,  we headed out to find
Porcini mushrooms and Joe  found 6 !!!  And well I found
about 6 kilos of chestnuts :) Joe obvioulsy has talent for
finding Porcini and said, very sweetly, "Honey I hope you
find one, because I know how much you like finding
things." Which I do and because of that  I want to go back
next weekend and hunt some more. All the neighbors
were proud of us - Buon Lavoro! And they all have their
own secret squirrel places to find them....this is the first
time I am praying for some rain, because if it rains...then
there will be more mushrooms!
Stuttgart 15 October 2009 - need to
stagger the picture so Av's head
doesn't look so HUGE. Or he has
friend's with tiny heads...hmmm.
